Bingo Bonding in the Bronx
In March 2025, Homeward Bronx residents enjoyed a bingo night hosted by volunteer Dorothy Crowley, her husband, and their 17 year-old.

Dorothy Crowley calls bingo for our Bronx residents
Dorothy first toured our Bronx supportive housing site in 2016 while working on a graduate school social work paper on human behavior and community.
That moment stayed with her. Since then, Dorothy has become a licensed master social worker and developed a passion for hosting bingo that began by leading family bingo events at her children’s elementary school.

She’s accumulated a fair amount of bingo merch over the years, like visors and aprons, and provides gift cards and other trinkets as prizes. When Dorothy reached out to Homeward Bronx staff recently, she offered references from other nonprofits and our staff quickly scheduled a bingo night. Says Dorothy,
What I have found is that pretty much everybody likes to play bingo. I’m sure there are exceptions. But young, old, rich, poor… I think everyone likes to shout ‘bingo!’ Everybody likes to be a winner.
With Dorothy calling bingo in the community room, our residents enjoyed the laughter and friendly competition.
We’re looking forward to the next bingo night. Thank you, Dorothy!
