“Always Be You”: Moms Create a Lullaby

May 9, 2025

In December 2024, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute visited our young families for a lullaby workshop.

The session began with an introduction to Carnegie Hall, where participants learned about musical instruments. Guided by expert musicians (including a guitarist and a violinist), the young mothers worked together to draft heartfelt lyrics for a lullaby inspired by their children!

The team from Carnegie Hall composed a beautiful melody for these lyrics crafted by the young mothers:

Have Faith
Have Courage
Have Respect
Believe In Yourself
Always Be You

Be Kind, Be Confident
Be Brave, Have Charisma
Be Loving, Always Be You

Have Faith
Have Courage
Have Respect
Always Be You, Always Be You, Always Be You

Be Kind, Be Brave, Be Loving, Believe in Yourself
When You Feel Down
I’ll Be There For You
Never Give Up
Dreams Do Come True

Be Confident, Have Charisma, Be Grateful
Always Be You

The event culminated with families singing their lullaby together, creating a memory that will resonate for years to come. Music played as gifts were shared with the children, and the mothers received free memberships to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan along with resources for upcoming Carnegie Hall programming.

Thank you, Children’s Museum of Manhattan and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute!
