Our Mission
Provide housing and wraparound services that empower homeless young mothers, LGBTQ young people and older adults to live life forward
We believe that by obtaining housing first, homeless New Yorkers can find the stability necessary to address trauma and build the skills they need as they transition into the next phase in their lives.
Our Values
We value diversity. Homeward NYC believes that inclusivity and diversity of experience improve the quality of decision-making and outcomes.
We strive for excellence. We expect the highest level of professionalism for our staff and the quality of care we provide our residents.
We respect the diverse life experiences of our board, staff and residents, and affirm their dignity as they bring their full selves to Homeward NYC.
We believe in collaboration. Collaboration furthers the professional growth of employees and empowers residents as active participants in their own care, goal setting and achievement.
We recognize resiliency is a strength. We acknowledge the resiliency in our residents. As an agency we commit to continued innovation, adaptability to changing circumstances and humility as we continue to grow.
Our Leadership
“From my 30 years’ experience serving homeless, marginalized populations I have learned that compassion—paired with innovation and commitment— can produce measurable social change.”
Jeannette K. Ruffins
Chief Executive Officer
